Please always carry a Pitchfork, Tees and a ball marker on the Golf course. These items are part of the standard equipment of every golfer and are for sale in the Golf shop at the Golf Academy.
During the practice round you’ll need to play with your own golf balls. Inexpensive golf balls are for sale in the golf shop at the Golf Academy.
Are you considering to buy your own Golf set? We have arranged a special offer by Golfstore Amstelveen, for a very complete and affordable golf set of 6 clubs, a stand/carry bag, 12 balls, a pitchfork, tees and ball marker. You can view all details on the downloadpage.
The theory course will be given on a Friday evening, from 17:00 – 20:00h and we will serve sandwiches with a delicious soup. The instruction ends with the theoretical exam at app. 19:00h. The exact date will be announced separately.
You have to prepare yourself for the theoretical test. During the lessons the focus will be on technique and some practical situations about safety and Etiquette on the course. There will only be limited time to cover the Rules of Golf.
The Rules of Golf are pretty extensive and complex, so please do not underestimate the theoretical exam.
The theory test is a written exam and has a time limit of 60 minutes. The exam will contain questions on the most commonly applied Rules of Golf, the Golf Etiquette and the Stableford system.
You must answer 15 out of 20 questions correctly to pass the exam. It is not allowed to use the Rule Book or any other reference material during the exam.
The exam will be in English, French and German exams are available on request.
After your entry you will receive a confirmation email which contains a link to the downloadpage. Here you can download a summary of The Rules of Golf and the Golf Etiquette to study.
To practice the actual questions for the exam we advise you to test your knowledge by playing the Rules Quiz at the R&A Website.
The R&A is the governing body on The Rules of Golf and their website also contains a fantastic Rules Exporer, to help you prepare for the exam.
Also, there are some great and useful Apps available for the Iphone or Ipad, like Rules of Golf and iGolfRules.
As of the 1st of July 2012 the Dutch Golf License (called GVB) is replaced by a new system of Handicap 54. The practical test is no longer part of the exam and does not takes place anymore.
To obtain you actual Golf License you will now have to register a valid scorecard ( a so called Qualifying Card) showing that you have a playing ability that corresponds with a Handicap of 54.
After the course you will receive a free greenfee for 9 holes.
You can play a round for your Qualifying Card after you passed your theoretical exam and the professional has granted you a permit to play. You are solely responsible for counting your scores correctly and your scorecard has to be co-signed by a fellow player who must at least have a valid GVB or a Handicap of 54.
After you sent your Qualifying Card tot the Dutch Golf Federation (NGF) of the club who administrates your handicap, you will receive a Golf License stating GVB / Handicap 54.
The Dutch Golf license is recognized by the European Golf Federation and is a valid proof of playing ability, all over the world.
The Golf Weekend is offered with a 100% guarantee!
You will guaranteed receive a playing permit and a free greenfee that is allowing you to go out and play for your Golf License / Handicap 54.
The guarantee also means that if you don’t pass the theoretical exam, we will re-examine you without extra cost until you pass.
Your Golf License has to be registered with the Dutch Golf Federation on an annual basis. Golfrevolutie provides your regsitration for you with United Golfclub, a national golf society associated with the NGF..
We will take care of your registration and all administrative requirements. The fee for your registration for 2013 is included in the price of the course.
NOTE; the Dutch Golf Federation does not send out any new cards after the 1st of October of each year. If you passed your Golf License after the 1st of October you will receive your first card after the 1st of January of the next year.
Every year you will receive a reminder if you wish to continue your registration. You will automatically receive a new Golf License every year as long as you continue your registration or are a member of a Golf club who arranges your registration for you.
Handicap 54 is enough to play on most Dutch Golf courses.
Please note that every Golf course is independently allowed to determine their own policy for visitors, and Handicap 54 therefor does not automatically provides you a right to play.
If, for example, a Golf course requires guests to carry ahandicap of 36 on weekends, you must first lower your handicap to 36 to be allowed on that specific course.
Always call the facility and inform about the visitors policy before travelling to the Golf course.
The Dutch Golf Federation provides a collective insurance for all golfers carrying a valid Dutch Golf License (Handicap 54). This third party insurance covers liability above € 125,- per accident while practicing the Game of Golf on facilities approved by the Federation.
All members of the Dutch Golf Federation also receive 10 issues of the magazine Golf Journal per year.
If you have any questions regarding the information above, please contact us at any time by e-mailing us at info@golfrevolutie.nl.
We wish you lots of fun during the lessons and good luck on your exam!
